Silent Disco Ecstatic Dance on the sand in South Laguna Beach, Orange County

The arc

Two hours. Three movements.

  1. 01

    Open

A facilitator brings the circle together. Breath, a few words, a shared intention. Headphones on.

  2. 02

    Wave

The DJ takes the room through a wave: slow, building, peak, and back down. Your body leads. Nobody is watching.

  3. 03

    Land

A live ambient set on the sand as the light goes. Then a short closing circle, and you are back in the world, softer.

House rules

Safe enough to actually let go.

  • Sober

    No alcohol. No substances. Ever.

  • No shoes

Bare feet on the sand. Socks if you need them.

  • Phones in a box

No photos, no video, no screens on the floor.

  • No talking

Not until the closing circle. Let the body do the talking.

  • Consent

No touching without a clear yes. Eyes closed is a no.

  • Not a pickup scene

Sensual, not sexual. Everyone gets to feel safe here.

Before you come

Straight answers

Is this a real ecstatic dance?

Yes. Free-form movement, no steps, no partner, no performance. A facilitator opens the room, a DJ takes it through a wave, and a quiet closing set ends it. The one difference from a studio ecstatic dance: it is on the beach, so the music comes through headphones instead of a PA.

Is it sober?

Completely. No alcohol, no substances, at every Humane Design event. That is the point: a room full of humans remembering how to feel, without anything in the way.

Where in Orange County is it?

South Laguna Beach, on the sand. The exact meeting spot is provided during ticket checkout and included again in confirmation and reminder emails; the public event listing keeps it private.

Do I need dance experience?

No. Nobody is watching and there is nothing to get right. Move as much or as little as you want. Sitting on the sand with headphones on counts.

What are the rules?

No substances. No shoes. Phones in a box. No talking on the dance floor until the closing circle. No touching without consent. Not a pickup scene: sensual, not sexual.

What does it cost?

Sliding scale, and the ticket includes the headphone rental. Pay what fits. Because this is a BE Ü collaboration, these dates are separately ticketed and are not included in Inner Circle discounts, included admissions, or guest passes.

Is there a live-band version?

PULSE Live is the live-band night: a welcome circle, guided movement, live improvised music, a restorative ambient set and small-group conversations. About once a month at NCC Bridge Hall in Laguna Beach, 5:45 to 8pm.
